A State of Transparency
at Fulton Market
Claire Henry, Wesley Kloss, Sadie Monroe
In collaboration with Philadelphia based artist, Wesley Kloss and Chicago based designer Claire Henry, this real-time, outdoor installation challenged society’s urban relationship to nature in Chicago, Illinois’ industrious West Loop neighborhood. Drawing inspiration from Ralph Waldo Emerson’s essay, Nature, the piece explores the poet’s provocation that most adults cannot see nature. They are rather seeing the superficial. With emphasis on the commonplace desire to substitute inorganic technology as a means to ll the lack of natural interaction in metropolitan areas, “A State of Transparency” asked the viewer to consider the state of manufactured nature.
